---I need her "Death Certificate" from abroad.

I am a foreigner and live abroad. My younger sister got married to Japanese and lived in Japan. They have had a child. But disappointedly, I heard from the email of my sister's friend that my siser have passed away recently in Japan.

I want to go to Japan to visit her grave in Japan. I was told by Japanese Embassy in my own country that I need her " copy of death certificate" .
私は日本へ妹のお墓参りに行きたいです。そのためには、妹の「死亡届のコピー」が必要と、私の国の日本大使館から言われました。
But now I can not get in touch with her Japanese husband. And all I know is her last address and her husband's name.

How can I obtain her "copy of Death Certificate"?

Answer：
Usually we can get her "copy of Death Certificate" at City Hall where your sister last lived in Japan. But in case of a foeigner, we need " the letter of attorny" which is written by the person who lived with her.
通常、「死亡届のコピー」はあなたの妹さんが住んでいたところの市役所で取ることができます。しかし、外国人の方の「死亡届のコピー」を取るためには、妹さんと同居していた方の「委任状」が必要となります。
So you need "the letter of attorny" written by her husband. But you can not get in touch with him. Then you can not get her "the copy of Death Certificate".
あなたの場合、妹さんの夫である日本人男性と連絡が取れないので、この委任状がないことになります。したがって、残念ながら、あなたは妹さんの「死亡届のコピー」を取ることはできないことになります。
But you do not have to give up, because you can also certify by "a copy of her Family Register".
しかし、まだあきらめないで下さい。妹さんの死亡の事実は、「戸籍謄本」によっても証明できるからです。
So in case of you, you will be able to get "a copy of her Family Register".
